NIFF-ty Finance: Neuroinclusive Financial Education

Wednesday, February 18, 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM PT

Presented by Sydni Fomas Do, ABD from the University of Arizone and Andy Manthei from Greenpath

Every client brings a different way of thinking, feeling, and lived experience into financial decisions. Brain chemistry plays a role in how people process information, manage emotions, plan for the future, and respond to financial stress. Just as these differences shape physical and mental health, they also shape how clients engage with money.

This session bridges together personal experience and behavioral insights to connect with neurodiversity and finance. The session will begin with a brief, accessible overview of neurodiversity, highlighting how factors such as attention, executive functioning, emotional regulation, and sensory sensitivity can influence financial behavior. We will then share select behavioral findings from ongoing research to illustrate how these differences can shape how people approach financial planning.

The second half of the session will shift into a facilitated think tank style discussion among participants. Drawing on their professional experiences, participants will identify features of financial services, communication strategies, and support structures that help clients feel capable, respected, and empowered. A preliminary framework informed by Universal Design for Learning principles will be introduced as a shared reference point rather than a prescriptive model.

Participants will leave the session with client centered considerations they can apply to make financial guidance more inclusive and effective within their own practice.
